In theaters this week
“Where’d You Go, Bernadette”: After years of subsuming her identity into being a wife and mother, a woman seemingly vanishes on a journey of self-discovery. Comedy based on the bestselling novel and directed by Richard Linklater, with Cate Blanchett, Billy Crudup and Kristen Wiig.
“Good Boys”: When an attempt to get some inside knowledge to prepare himself for his first kissing party goes horribly wrong, a 12-year-old enlists his best friends in a quest shaped by even worse decisions involving stolen drugs, cops, paintball and, worst of all, teenage girls. Jacob Tremblay is the tween in trouble in this raunchy, R-rated comedy from the producers of “Superbad.”
“Blinded by the Light”: In 1987 Britain, a teenager looking for meaning in his music has his life transformed when a friend lends him some Bruce Springsteen albums, much to the consternation of his traditional Pakistani family.
“Bend It Like Beckham” director Gurinder Chadha’s inspirational comedydrama is based on a true story and filled with classic Springsteen tunes.
“David Crosby: Remember My Name”: Warts-and-all documentary, directed by Cameron Crowe, on the many-bridges-burned life of the heavenly voiced singer from the Byrds and Crosby, Stills & Nash (and later Young).
“47 Meters Down: Uncaged”: In this sequel-in-spirit to the 2017 women-in-peril-with-sharks thriller, five girls explore underwater ruins in Brazil and find out they have deadly company.
“Honeyland”: Award-winning documentary on Turkish farmers surviving with a little help from their bees.
“Ready or Not”: In this horror movie opening in theaters Wednesday, a young woman marries into a rich, sinister family with an unusual tradition – a deadly game of hide and seek.
