UW-Whitewater 24, UW-Eau Claire 14: A brisk fall afternoon probably felt like a sauna for the Warhawks.

Whitewater, ranked third in the D3football.com rankings, had to sweat out a victory over UW-Eau Claire at Perkins Stadium in Whitewater.

The Blugolds (2-2, 0-1 WIAC), who received votes in the latest poll, trailed, 24-7, heading into the final quarter. But they closed to 24-14 after quarterbac­k Jonathan Malueg scored on a 1-yard run with 1 minute, 25 seconds to go. Whitewater attempted to run out the clock, but the plan hit a snag when Eau Claire’s Victor Martinelli recovered a fumble at the Whitewater 24 with 48 seconds left.

Malueg threw an incompleti­on on fourth-and-10 from the 14 with 6 seconds left and the Warhawks (4-0, 1-0) took a deep breath. UW-Plattevill­e 38, UW-La Crosse 20: Colin Schuetz threw for 321 yards and three touchdowns as the host Pioneers (4-0 WIAC, 1-0) knocked off the 16th-ranked Eagles (2-2, 0-1). UW-Oshkosh 26, UW-Stout 23: Jaydon Haag booted a 42-yard field goal with 8:49 left and the visiting Titans (3-1, 1-0 WIAC) edged the Blue Devils (1-3, 0-1).

UW-Stevens Point 30, UW-River Falls 16: Quarterbac­k Matt Urmanski threw for a touchdown and ran for a pair of scores for the host Pointers (2-2, 1-0 WIAC) in a victory over the Falcons (1-3, 0-1).

Wisconsin Lutheran 27, Rockford 13: Nick Yockey tossed four touchdown passes to lead the visiting Warriors (1-3) past the Regents (1-3). Carthage 38, Elmhurst 14: Colton Klein threw for 315 yards and three touchdowns to lead the visiting Red Men (2-2, 2-1 CCIW) to an easy victory over the Bluejays (1-3, 1-2) at Langhorst Field. Benedictin­e 27, Concordia (Wis.) 21: Joshua Williams scored on a 1-yard run in overtime as the Ravens (1-2) outlasted the Falcons (2-1) at Tomasini Stadium in Mequon.

Monmouth 20, Ripon 0: Brandon Graeff returned a blocked punt 8 yards for a touchdown and the Fighting Scots (2-2) downed the host Red Hawks (1-3) at Ingalls Field.

Concordia (Ill.) 31, Lakeland 26: Lance Moise rushed for 183 yards and two touchdowns and the host Cougars (3-1) held off the Muskies (1-2) in River Forest, Illinois.

Illinois Wesleylan 42, Carroll 14: Quarterbac­k Brandon Bauer passed for two touchdowns and ran for two more as the Titans (2-2, 2-1 CCIW) routed the Pioneers (1-3, 1-2) at Tucci Stadium in Bloomingto­n, Illinois.

Chicago 48, Beloit 0: Marco Cobian threw for 321 yards and three touchdowns as the visiting Maroons (1-2)drubbed the Buccaneers (0-3) at Strong Stadium.

Illinois College 55, Lawrence 10: Drew Chance passed for 221 yards and three touchdowns and the Blue Boys (3-1) trounced the Vikings (1-3) in Appleton.
