2 arrested after search near 24th & Glendale yields dog remains
After an extensive search Tuesday afternoon in the backyard of a house near 24th Place and Glendale Avenue for human remains, authorities found only the remains of a dog, Milwaukee police said.
They arrested two people on charges related to animal cruelty, Sgt. Sheronda Grant said in a news release.
Police had received information that human remains were buried on the property, Grant said. They served a search warrant Tuesday morning at the residence in the 4600 block of North 24th Place.
Police could be seen on social media posts searching and digging in the backyard of the residence, which was littered with trash.
The debris on the property prompted police to deem it unfit for living and ordered it to be boarded up.
A heavy law enforcement presence was on scene.
