Waukesha woman charged in heroin death

Father’s Day for a Waukesha family turned tragic after a woman was found dead in a Town of Brookfield motel, a man was found unresponsi­ve and their 2-year-old child was wandering alone around the property.

Now, a Waukesha woman is accused of providing the heroin that resulted in the young mother’s death.

Latina N. Woody, 39, of Waukesha was charged Tuesday in Waukesha County Circuit Court with first-degree reckless homicide with a modifier of being party to a crime. A warrant has been issued for her arrest.

Woody is accused of causing the death of Brianna Ilic, after selling heroin to her June 16.

Bradley A. Barnett, 37, was charged June 18 in Waukesha County Circuit Court with neglecting a child and possession of narcotics, both felonies, and resisting an officer and possession of drug parapherna­lia, both misdemeano­rs, in connection with the incident. A $2,000 cash bond was set.
