Waukesha man guilty in fatal crash that killed beloved pediatrici­an

A Waukesha man accused of fatally striking and killing a bicyclist in 2018 in Delafield was convicted Monday on lesser misdemeano­r charges, as part of a plea deal.

James C. Kramp, 73, was originally charged with homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle, a felony that could have resulted in up to 10 years in prison, $25,000 in fines and the revocation of his driver’s license for one year.

But under a plea deal, that charge was amended to disorderly conduct and negligent operation of a motor vehicle. Three citations that carry fines were also added to the case: reckless driving-endangerin­g safety ($389.50), unsafe lane deviation ($175.30) and inattentiv­e driving ($187.90). He pleaded guilty to the citations.

The crash on Golf Road in June 2018 killed Brian Yagoda, 57, a doctor at ProHealth Medical Group in Muskego, and has led to his wife taking action for safer roadways for bicyclists. She provided Waukesha County with $70,000 to pave the gravel shoulders into 5-feet-wide paved shoulders where her husband was
