Apparel merchant Old Navy is opening a new store in Brookfield.

Old Navy was planning a low-key, or “soft,” opening at 5 p.m. Wednesday for its new location in The Corridor, a mixed-use development south of West Blue Mound Road and west of North Calhoun Road.

The nearly 13,000-square-foot store is scheduled to host a ribboncutting and grand opening event this Saturday at 9:30 a.m.

The debut of a new Old Navy in Brookfield comes in advance of plans by the retailer to open 800 new stores as part of an upcoming spin-off from parent company Gap Inc.

Gap Inc. officials announced in February that they planned to spin off Old Navy into its own public company in 2020. Along with the Gap brand, Banana Republic and Athleta would remain part of Gap Inc.

Old Navy is the fourth retailer in the

“Shoppes of The Corridor” portion of The Corridor, which is a 65-acre mixeduse development that includes a ProHealth outpatient facility, a Holiday Inn Express & Suites, a Fairfield Inn & Suites and Wisconsin’s first Life Time Fitness.

Other retailers already open in that portion of the development are Dick’s Sporting Goods, party supplies store Party City and discount retailer Five Below.

Ashley Bennett, Old Navy’s district manager for the Wisconsin market, said Wednesday that the new store has Old Navy’s latest decor along with apparel for all ages.

“We have men’s, women’s, kids, baby, toddler, accessories, so we’re really truly for the family,” Bennett said.

She said in addition to Wednesday evening, the store will be open Thursday and Friday before the grand opening celebration Saturday.

“We’ll have a big event on Saturday, which will include a DJ, a photo booth, cupcakes. It’s going to be pretty cool,” Bennett said.
