CAMP REPORT

- Todd Rosiak

On the field: With Ryan Braun and Eric Sogard both reporting Monday, the Brewers had their full complement of players in camp heading into their first full-squad workout on Tuesday. Team principal owner Mark Attanasio will be on hand to address the team beforehand, as he always does, along with president of baseball operations David Stearns and manager Craig Counsell.

The Brewers will ease into action Tuesday, then back their days up by two hours with live batting practice scheduled for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday with the Cactus League opener taking place Saturday.

There are extra arms in camp this spring, which comes in handy this week. But once the games begin, available innings soon begin to dry up.

“It starts to affect guys pretty quickly,” Counsell said. “Right now, we’re like six ahead of what we had the last year and year before.

“We’ve been up front about that with guys. We’re just not going to have enough innings.”

Outfielder Tyrone Taylor (wrist) and infielder Luis Urías (hand) are the only two position players listed as out due to injury.

Weather: Sunny, 76 degrees.

Scoreboard: First Cactus League game, Saturday, vs. Texas at Surprise, 2 p.m CT.

Cactus Juice: Among the tasks Braun needed to check off his to-do list after reporting was tracking down a first baseman’s glove.

He had one when he dabbled at the position in 2018 but equipment manager Jason Shawger apparently is going to need to help Braun in his quest for leather.

“(Mike Moustakas) told me he had a really good one but I think (Yasmani Grandal) took it, so I need to track that one down,” Braun said. “I’m not sure if my first baseman’s glove is here, but I’ll have to dust it off and get it ready for action again.”

Countdown: 37 days until the Brewers’ season opener on March 26 vs. the Chicago Cubs at Miller Park.
