CAMP REPORT

-

On the field: Mario Feliciano's two-run double and Lucas Erceg's RBI single drew the Brewers even with the San Francisco Giants in the ninth inning, and their game finished as a 3-3 tie at Scottsdale Stadium.

With no offense to speak of until the final frame, the story of the game was the first spring appearances for Josh Hader and Bobby Wahl.

Hader was his usual dominating self, striking out the side on 12 pitches while Wahl, pitching in Cactus League play for the first time since blowing out his right knee last March 1, struck out two of the three batters he faced in his inning. "It's always good to compete and see how your stuff's playing," Hader said. "You can throw so many bullpens, so many lives, but when you've got a guy at the plate it's different.

"It's just nice to see the reactions of those hitters." Minor-leaguer Chad Spanberger also kept up his hot hitting, just missing his third homer in as many games with a booming double to center in the eighth. Josh Lindblom started and allowed a run on two hits while striking out three in two innings of work.

Weather: Sunny, breezy, 66 degrees.

Scoreboard: Brewers 3, Giants 3. Record: 2-2-1. Thursday: Brewers vs. Kansas City Royals, 2:05 p.m. Milwaukee LHP Brett Anderson vs. Kansas City RHP Jakob Junis. TV: FS Wisconsin.

Cactus Juice: Former Brewers infielder Jeff Cirillo, the franchise's all-time batting leader with a career .307 average, will join Brian Anderson and Bill Schroeder in the broadcast booth for the first three exhibition game telecasts, beginning Thursday.

Later in the spring, Geoff Jenkins, No. 4 on the Brewers' home-run list and a 2018 Miller Park Walk of Fame inductee, will join Anderson and Schroeder for three later broadcasts, as will former general manager Doug Melvin, now an adviser. Sophia Minnaert will work the sidelines and dugouts, as she has in the past.

Countdown: 28 days until the Brewers' season opener on March 26 vs. the Chicago Cubs at Miller Park.
