Arrowhead scores big
The Warhawks pull in three top awards at the Journal Sentinel’s High School Sports Awards show.
The biggest winner at the fourth-annual Journal Sentinel High School Sports Awards is no stranger to success.
Arrowhead has long been one of the top prep athletic programs in the state. Thursday night during the internet broadcast of the awards show, Warhawks walked away with three of the biggest awards of the night.
Seniors Keegan O’Toole and Aubrey Hamilton were named the male and female athletes of the year. Girls volleyball coach Janelle Hobbs was named coach of the year.
This marked the first time those three awards were claimed by one school in the four-year history of the event.
Hamilton was named girls volleyball player of the year for the second straight season. The Notre Dame recruit was named the Gatorade state player of the year and a second-team All-American by Maxpreps after leading the Warhawks to the Division 1 state championship.
O’Toole became the 18th wrestler in WIAA history to win four state championships and was later named the national wrestler of the year by Wrestler Insider Magazine.
Hobbs, a former Warhawks standout, led the team to its second straight state tournament appearance and its first championship in the sport. The Warhawks went 41-3 and dropped just one set in the postseason.
