16-year-old, 20-year-old killed in shootings

The Milwaukee Police Department is searching for answers related to two shootings late Tuesday and early Wednesday.

Just before 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday police responded to a call on the 3400 block of North 8th Street and found a 16-year-old girl dead of a gunshot wound.

Roughly four hours later, around 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday, police responded to a call on the 2700 block of North Holton Street and found a 20year-old man also shot and killed.

No arrests have been made in either case, and the circumstan­ces that led to each shooting are being investigat­ed.

There have been more than 70 homicides this year which is roughly 30 more than last year on this date.

The girl is the ninth teenager shot in two weeks in Milwaukee as gun violence spikes.

The other teenagers suffered gunshot wounds that were not life-threatenin­g, police said. The other victims include:

About 10 p.m. on Monday a 14year-old boy was shot on the 1400 block of North 37th Street.

About 1:30 a.m. on Monday, a 13year-old boy was shot on the 2200 block of North 12th Street.

About 6 p.m. Sunday, a 16-year-old girl was shot in the 3800 block of South 27th Street.

About 5:30 p.m. on June 23, a boy and girl, both 14, were shot during the unrest near a Washington Park home in the 4100 block of West Lloyd Street.

About 1 a.m. June 22, a 14-year-old boy was shot in the 800 block of West Atkinson Avenue.

About 8:30 p.m. June 18, a 15-yearold boy was shot in the 2100 block of North 34th Street.

About 4:30 a.m. June 17, a 15-yearold boy was shot in the 3100 block of North Achilles Street.
