Brewers fans can join Uecker in last row

- Tom Haudricourt

As it stands, fans won’t be allowed in the seats at Miller Park for the Milwaukee Brewers’ home games when the pandemic-delayed 60-game Major League Baseball season begins in late July.

You can be represented in cardboard form, however, and “sit” with Brewers legendary radio broadcaster Bob Uecker, who is marking his 50th season in the booth for the Brewers and 65th season overall in major-league baseball.

The Brewers announced Wednesday the chance be part of the “Cutout Crew” -- 2-foot images of fan likenesses that will join Uecker’s “Last Row” statue as a virtual fan base at the top of Miller Park this season.

Each cutout costs $50 with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Brewers Community Foundation. Fans can upload their photos online and a cutout will be installed in seats either in or adjacent to Section 422 in the terrace level behind home plate. The “Cutout Crew” opportunity begins at 9 a.m. Thursday.

Specific directions on securing a seat and uploading a photo are available on brewers.com/cutoutcrew.

There is a limit of 500 cutouts produced on a first-come, first-served basis.

The Uecker “Last Row” statue was installed in 2014 and pays tribute to the popular Miller Lite “All Stars” ad campaign that featured Uecker’s famous tagline, “I must be in the front row.” In those commercials, Uecker somehow always ended up in the last row.

“We miss our fans and wanted to come up with a creative way for them to participate in the action this year,” said Brewers president of business operations Rick Schlesinger. “While nothing can replace the energy and passion of our loyal fans in the stands, the Cutout Crew is a unique way we can welcome familiar faces for now at Miller Park.”
