The 2017 murder of Karen Simek, the Oconomowoc woman who was killed on her way into work at a Milwaukee food company, is the subject of a new episode of Investigation Discovery’s “The Murder Tapes.”

Simek, a 53-year-old food technologist, was shot to death in the early morning hours of Jan. 31, 2017, on her way into work at Garden Fresh Foods at South 12th Street and West National Avenue. Robbery was the suspected motive, but Milwaukee police found few clues until an unexpected tip led them to a suspect — and, in July 2018, led to a conviction.

“The Murder Tapes” installment on the Simek case, titled “Don’t Look Back,” premieres at 9 p.m. July 28.

The series, which began airing on Investigation Discovery last summer, follows criminal investigations using actual body-cam footage, surveillance video and interrogation room recordings.

Investigation Discovery is available on Spectrum cable on Channel 139.
