- From Journal Sentinel wire reports

The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers and Fox Cities Stadium have new owners.

Third Base Ventures, a group led by Green Bayarea entrepreneur Craig Dickman, announced Tuesday morning it had purchased the Timber Rattlers, the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders and Fox Cities Stadium.

The 60-year-old Dickman, who was born in Oshkosh, is the principal owner and is joined by minority owners Rob Zerjav and Brad Raaths. Zerjav, 45, is the president of the Timber Rattlers and Dock Spiders and will remain in those roles. Raaths, who grew up in the Fox Cities, is a partner in the Madison-based law firm of Dewitt LLP.

Dickman declined to disclose the purchase price for the two teams and the stadium. The sale has an expected closing date as early as Jan. 1.

The Timber Rattlers, a Midwest League affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers, and the Dock Spiders, who play in the Northwoods League, were owned by Appleton Baseball Club, a not-for-profit corporation that has operated since 1891.

COLLEGE BASKETBALL

Florida star forward Keyontae Johnson was released from the hospital Tuesday, 10 days after collapsing on the court at Florida State and needing emergency medical attention.

The school released a statement from his family saying, “We continue to be amazed at the pace of his recovery.”

Johnson crumpled to the floor coming out of a timeout on Dec. 12. He was moved to a stretcher and carried to a waiting ambulance as teammates, coaches, staff, fans and others watched in disbelief.

Like many of his Florida teammates, Johnson tested positive for COVID-19 during the summer. Although the cause of Johnson's collapse has not been revealed, the coronavirus can lead to myocarditis, a viral infection of the heart muscle. At its most severe, myocarditis can lead to sudden cardiac arrest and has been a documented cause of death for young, otherwise healthy athletes.
