We need high-speed rail service
The proposal for a second daily round-trip passenger train on the Twin Cities-Milwaukee-Chicago rail corridor is good news (“Train would link Chicago, Twin Cities, Milwaukee,” April 1).
President Joe Biden’s $2.3 trillion plan to rebuild the nation’s aging infrastructure is even better news (“Biden’s ‘jobs Cabinet’ to sell infrastructure,” April 2).
I may be beating a dead (iron) horse, but I’m hoping that President Joe Biden’s infrastructure plan will breathe new life into the long proposed highspeed rail line between Chicago, Milwaukee, Madison and Minneapolis. I’m also hopeful that Gov. Tony Evers and his administration will be supportive of this project, unlike his predecessor.
This would be a great economic benefit to Milwaukee and the entire state of Wisconsin. As a United States senator and vice-president, Biden was not only a regular Amtrak passenger, but a strong advocate for passenger rail in the U.S. Biden should include this project in the much-needed infrastructure bill.
Let’s build back better by building high-speed passenger rail service in Wisconsin.
