‘Army of the Dead’
Short version: A group of mercenaries sets out to pull off a big heist in Las Vegas, which has been overrun by a zombie outbreak. Dave Bautista, Omari Hardwick, Tig Notaro, Hiroyuki Sanada and Ana de la Reguera star in this new action movie from Green Bay native Zack Snyder (yes, the “Justice League” guy).

‘Us Kids’
Short version: Kim A. Snyder’s documentary follows the March for Our Lives movement and the young people giving it life, including the high school kids who survived the mass shooting in Parkland, Florida, and Milwaukee activist Bria Smith, who is on the March of
Our Lives’ board. The movie’s trip around the film festival circuit included a stop at the 2020 Milwaukee Film Festival and an outdoor screening last summer at the Milky Way Drive-In in Franklin.

Free ‘Fast and the Furious’: With “F9,” the ninth “Fast and Furious” movie less than two months away, Universal
Pictures is bringing back each of the previous eight movies for free Friday night showings. This week’s is “The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift,” showing May 14 at 7:15 p.m. at AMC Mayfair Mall, 8:15 p.m. at Silverspot Cinema, and 7 p.m. at Marcus Theatres’ Hillside, Majestic, Menomonee Falls, North Shore, Ridge, Southgate and South Shore cinemas. Milwaukee Film Festival
The 13th Milwaukee Film Festival continues — like last year’s, all online — and runs through May 20. Most of the movies are available throughout the run of the festival. But the closing-night movie, “Summer of Soul ( … Or, When the Revolution Could Not Be Televised)” directed by musician and music historian Questlove, is only available on the final day of the fest. You can watch the movies on Milwaukee Film’s website, at and through apps available on Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV and Android TV. Wisconsin Film Festival
Normally in April, the Wisconsin Film Festival runs through May 20; like the Milwaukee Film Festival, it’s all-online. Highlights of the Madison-based fest include “The Passing On,” a documentary exploring the world of Blackowned funeral homes, and “Mogul Mowgli,” with Oscar nominee Riz Ahmed (“Sound of Metal”) as a British-Pakistani rapper coming to grips with his cultural identity. Gary Oldman, Julianne Moore, Brian Tyree Henry, Anthony Mackie and Jennifer Jason Leigh co-star in this former targeted-to-theaters thriller directed by Joe Wright. On Netflix starting May 14.
