Restaurant Week in Kenosha, Usinger Day in Milwaukee
Kenosha’s annual Restaurant Week actually gives you nine days to check out the more than 50 venues taking part, from Feb. 19 to 27.
Options, from breakfast to dinner and snacks to dessert, include individual and family-style meals ready to eat or take and heat; dine in and carryout. Some places have delivery or curbside service.
Each restaurant or shop has its own discounted menu or other offer. Seek out each spot’s Restaurant Week menu for specials (regular menus also will be available) in person or online and see restaurants’ websites for hours and reservation information.
The list of participating venues, Restaurant Week menus and other details are at organizer Visit Kenosha’s website at
Visit Kenosha asks diners to consider a donation during Restaurant Week to the Shalom Center or the Sharing Center, the nonprofit partners of the nineday event.
Some of the participating restaurants and shops also have opportunities to support nonprofits during Restaurant Week, such as donation jars.
Information about restaurant gift card giveaways through Facebook and
Instagram is at the Visit Kenosha website.
Fred Usinger Day
Feb. 23 is the 15th annual Fred Usinger Day — proclamations by the county executive and acting Milwaukee mayor make it official — which means free bratwurst at the Old German Beer Hall downtown.
The beer hall, 1009 N. King Drive, will give away one wurst to a person from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., or while supplies last. The sausages come from Usinger’s, of course, the beer hall’s neighbor across the street.
The Usinger store, meanwhile, will have specials on brats, wieners, smoked pork chops and other items from Feb. 23 to 26.
Other festivities to mark the day:
Fritzi the Usinger Elf will tap a keg of Winterfest beer from the Munich Hofbräuhaus at 6 p.m., and samples will be handed out;
And the event will have live music, with Kenny Brandt starting at 11 a.m., a live broadcast by WHQG-FM (102.9, The Hog) starting at 3 p.m. and Alpine Blast at 5:30 p.m.
