Charles “Chuck” Holton, 91, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully in his sleep on the morning of April 19, 2022, at his home in St. Albans, Vermont.

In 1948, Chuck Holton graduated from St. Benedict the Moor High School in Milwaukee, where he played basketball. After starring in basketball and track for St. Norbert College, in De Pere, Wisconsin, in 1952, Holton became the first African-American to graduate from St. Norbert with a B.S. in Economics.

Chuck Holton was a member of the legendary Harlem Globetrott­ers from 1952 to 1958. He continued his career by focusing on social work returning to his hometown of Milwaukee and becoming the Director of Health and Social Services. He then served almost four years as the director of the House of Peace organizati­on.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Frank J. Holton Sr. and Alice C. Holton; sisters Maureen Snead, Mary Ellen Ringhand; brother Frank J Holton Jr, ; son Kevin C. Holton and brother-in-law Henry J. Davis Sr.

He is survived by his loving wife Carol Sue (Oakes) Holton; daughters, Sharon , Lori, Lisa; sisters Dolores Davis, Geri Clarke, Carol Ann Holton brother T Michael Holton; sisters-in-law Dolores Holton, Mary Phyllis Holton; brothersin-law David Clarke, Tom Miller son-in-law Klaus Schmidt; grandchild­ren; Kara Holton, Skyler Nash, Kaiann Nash, Jaedyn Nash, great-grandson Zairo Duggar and a host of loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A celebratio­n of life for Chuck will be announced at a later date.
