Michael S. Megna

-

MEQUON - On Sunday, May 8th, 2022, Michael S. Megna, was born into eternal life at the age of 86.

Michael was born to this earth on June 14th, 1936, Flag Day, to Italian immigrants, Antonio Megna and Maria Valenti on Milwaukee’s Lower Eastside. While a true American at his core, Michael was fiercely proud of his Italian heritage. He was an achiever at St. Rita’s Elementary School, a competitor at Lincoln High School, and a graduate of Marquette University with a BS in Accounting and an MBA in Finance. Michael was kind, generous, and funny. He was a partner, a lover, a protector, a brother, an uncle, a gentleman, a friend, an appraiser, a pioneer, a gambler, an enthusiast, a fan, a rock, a mentor, an advocate, and a coach. He was fiercely loyal to his family and friends and was serious about his role as patriarch. Michael was also near deaf. As a child, he was diagnosed with an acoustic neuroma that affected his ability to hear for the rest of his life. He hid his condition in plain sight as he taught himself how to read lips and paid attention to the smallest of details.

As a young man, Michael shined shoes for income and found a regular customer that would come to change his life. Charting his post graduate career path on his way to a job interview at American Appraisal, Michael found himself face to face in an elevator with the CEO and President of the company. This executive was the very same man that sat in front of him time and again while Michael buffed a high shine into his brown oxfords. The rest was history as Michael found a 37-year home and loyal family in American Appraisal Associates where he worked with Walt Disney, Howard Hughes, Norman Rockwell, Nabisco, and the Elvis Presley’s Estate. He worked with the New England Patriots, the Milwaukee Bucks, and countless other pro teams. He traveled the world and blazed new paths but was most honored when the great Howard Cosell interviewed him on the Wide World of Sports and opened with “You may not know this man, but he is the most influential man in sports today”. Michael Megna was the Deaf Insider.

Michael Megna served as Executive Vice President of the American Appraisal Associates up until his retirement in 1993.

He met the love of his life Candance M. Kane at American Appraisal and enjoyed 38 years together before she passed. He is preceded in death by his parents Antonio and Maria, his brother Vincent A. Megna (Jackie) and sister Jennie Megna. He is survived by his partner of 7 years, Elizabeth Patrick, his brother Joseph Megna, Niece, Maria Megna (Enzo Scarano), Nephews, Michael Megna (Christine), Jim Megna (Kathy), Niece Pamela Megna (Mark), brother-in-law Steve Kane (Linda), Nephew Austin Kane and Niece Ann Kane.
