Milwaukee Brewing Co. announced on social media Tuesday that it’s closing its taproom near Fiserv Forum, and confirmed that a “new brewery” is buying the taproom at 1128 N. Ninth St.

Milwaukee Brewing announced last week that it would close its other restaurant and brewery space, the Milwaukee Ale House, in the Third Ward. The 25-year-old brewery, which makes Louie’s Demise, MKE IPA, Outboard and O-Gii among other brews, put itself up for sale in March.

It was not clear if the taproom’s new purchaser would sell Milwaukee Brewing Co. products.

According to the social media posts, the last day for Milwaukee Brewing’s taproom is Aug. 30. The Ale House is expected to close Sept. 11.

“While we can’t share who the brewery is just yet, we’d love to share that their innovation in the craft brewing industry, passion for sharing beer with others and creativity make them the perfect brewery to take over the space,” the brewery said in posts on Twitter and Instagram.

Milwaukee Brewing Co. CEO Dave Hock did not immediately answer a request for comment from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Milwaukee brewer Jim McCabe opened Milwaukee Ale House in 1997 and later expanded it to brew more beer at its former home on South Second Street. It moved out of South Second Street and into the 43,000-square-foot facility on Ninth Street near the old Pabst Brewery in 2019.

The taproom will be open regular business hours and offer tours one last time on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

For the tour, Milwaukee Brewing Company will extend the sampling window after brewery tours in lieu of handing on “beer on us” (free beer) tokens. Anyone who currently has “beer on us” tokens are asked to use them by Aug. 30.

The brewery’s final “Crate Club” will be on Friday, 5 to 9 p.m., and Sunday, noon to 6 p.m. Crate Club members can keep their crate as a souvenir or may trade in their crate for free beer.
