“Devil’s Workshop”: Desperate to win a role as a demonologi­st, a struggling actor spends a weekend being tutored by a woman who practices the trade — which turns out to not have been a great idea. Radha Mitchell, Timothy Granaderos and Emile Hirsch star in this horror thriller. Available Sept. 30.

“Vesper”: In a world where Earth’s ecosystem has collapsed, a 13-year-old girl trying to protect her paralyzed father might have discovered the secret to humanity’s future in this dystopian sci-fi thriller. Available Sept. 30.

“God’s Creatures”: In a remote fishing village, a mother (Emily Watson) is torn between her love for her son and doing what’s right. Available Sept. 30.

New movies on streaming services

“Hocus Pocus 2”: In this sequel to the beloved family horror comedy, three young women accidental­ly bring back the Sanderson Sisters (Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kathy Najimy) to modern-day Salem and must figure out how to send the witches back. On Disney+ Sept. 30.

“What We Leave Behind”: This documentar­y follows the story of Julian Moreno, an 89-year-old who makes a 17-hour bus ride every month from his home in rural Mexico to visit family in El Paso, Texas. On Netflix Sept. 30.

“My Best Friend’s Exorcism”: Teenage BFFs have to figure out how to fight a demon when it takes up residence in one of them in this horror comedy. On Amazon Prime Video Sept. 30.

“Mr. Harrigan’s Phone”: A teen (Jaeden Martell) befriends an old man (Donald Sutherland) and they bond over the smart phone the youth taught him to use. But when the old man dies, the youth gets a message from the dead man’s cellphone — promising to help him get his revenge. John Lee Hancock wrote and directed this adaptation of Stephen King’s story. On Netflix Oct. 5.
