Combs kicking off ’24 tour with 2 American Family Field shows

- Piet Levy

The Milwaukee Brewers’ American Family Field just wrapped its biggest year for concerts ever, with the fourth soldout concert of 2023, Pink’s Monday night performance.

They’re wasting no time getting ready for the next show — or rather, shows.

Country superstar Luke Combs will finally play his first major headlining concerts in Milwaukee in 2024, after opening for Blake Shelton at Summerfest in 2018, then making an appearance at Farm Aid at Alpine Valley Music Theatre in 2019.

And he’s going as big as he can get for his long-anticipated Milwaukee visit, with not one but two shows at American Family Field April 12 and 13. The concerts will be the kickoff of the 2024 U.S. run of

Combs’ “Growin’ Up and Gettin’ Old Tour,” consisting of 25 shows (with two stadium shows in 12 cities) through next August. The tour is named after Combs’ 2022 album “Growin’ Up” and this year’s “Gettin’ Old” album, the latter featuring his biggest hit to date, a cover of Tracy Chapman’s “Fast Car.”

Combs will be just the second artist to headline two consecutive nights of stadium shows in Milwaukee, following Morgan Wallen’s two-night tour kickoff at American Family Field this year. But unlike Wallen, Combs will have different openers each night. The April 12 show will feature recent Harley-Davidson Homecoming Festival highlight Cody Jinks, Zach Bryan’s impressive Summerfest opener Charles Wesley Godwin and the Wilder Blue. Openers for the April 13 show include Jordan Davis, Mitchell Tenpenny, Drew Parker and Colby Acuff.

Tickets for the Milwaukee shows go on sale at 10 a.m. Aug. 25 at and through the American Family Field ticket office, with multiple presales beginning at 2 p.m. Aug. 22.
