MILWAUKEE - MaryJo

Macias (Sousek) passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on August 16, 2023 at the age of 65. She is survived by her partner of 40 years, Pio Ortega, her three children, Wendy, Rebeca, and Alex (Casey), her five grandchildren, Emilia, Aliya, Sophia, Nora, and Luka, her two great-grandchildren, Javanni and Soulene, and extended family and friends who love her dearly.

MaryJo was born on October 10, 1957 in Milwaukee, WI to the late Robert and Emily Sousek. She was the youngest of four children, Terry, Nancy, and Susie. She attended James Madison High School and graduated in 1975, after which she worked various jobs before her nearly 20 year tenure with ManpowerGroup, where she met a few of her closest friends.

MaryJo loved music, books, writing, and the Green Bay Packers. She had the privilege of seeing her favorite band, Queen, back in 1980 and again in 2006 with her daughter, Rebeca, and her second favorite band Aerosmith in 2005 with her daughter, Wendy. She attended several Packers games with her dad and passed her love and passion for the team and the game onto her son, Alex. She spent her free time reading, some of her favorites being the Harry Potter series, and journaling her thoughts and feelings for each day.

MaryJo’s lasting impact can be seen in her relationships with her children and grandchildren, her close friends, most of whom she’s known for decades, and the various nurses and doctors she’s seen throughout the years at St. Luke’s Hospital.

MaryJo’s family would like to thank all who were a part of her journey and invite them to celebrate her life on Monday, August 21, 2023 at Schaff Funeral Home, 5920 West Lincoln Avenue, West Allis, WI 53219. Visitation from 11:00AM1:00PM. Service to start at 1:00PM.
