Betsy Clare Regez

BROOKFIELD - passed away on August 3, 2023 at the age of 71 after a courageous, 7-year battle with cancer. She transition­ed peacefully in her home, surrounded by her family.

Betsy was born on June 18, 1952 in Monroe, WI to parents Rudolph and Beatrice Regez. She was the youngest of four children. Betsy graduated from the University of WI-Madison with a BS in Nursing and began her profession­al career as a pediatric nurse. Her love of learning continued as she pursued advanced degrees – a BS in Educationa­l Psychology from UW-Milwaukee and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Wisconsin School of Profession­al Psychology. Throughout her career as a Clinical Psychologi­st she was able to help many children and families. She retired from her private practice in 2017.

Betsy loved reading, traveling, practicing yoga and listening to music. She also enjoyed spending time outdoors kayaking, hiking, relaxing at her lake house in Eagle River and drinking coffee on her screen porch in Brookfield.

Betsy is survived by her loving partner of 17 years, Tom Raley. She was a loving mother to three children: David Buchholtz (Tina), Molly Schaber (Ryan), and Emily Fusaro (Kurtis). She was a proud grandmothe­r to Sonora Buchholtz (14), Miles Schaber (12), Henry Schaber (8), Hayes Schaber (6), Mia Fusaro (3), and Violet Fusaro (2). Betsy is also survived by her two older sisters: Jane Foley (Gene) and Susan Escandell, and her sister-in-law, Susie Regez. She is predecease­d by her older brother Rudolph (Buzz) Regez.

A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 am, Thursday August 24, 2023 at Community United Methodist Church in Elm Grove, WI. The family will greet friends and relatives beginning at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Monroe Fund, the UW Carbone Cancer Center, or the Community United Methodist Church of Elm Grove.
