Born in Florence, Wisconsin to Ernest and Elda Robichaud on March 16, 1931, Mary Ann married her school sweetheart, Francis Rudolph Manci (pre-deceased) in Florence on July 5, 1952. She lovingly cared for him until his passing in 2006. After marrying her high school sweetheart, Frank immediately served overseas in the Korean War while Mary Ann graduated from Lawrence University. She went on to teach elementary school for two years in Appleton, WI prior to moving with Frank to Wauwatosa, WI where she continued as a substitute teacher for several years. In Wauwatosa they raised their three sons: David Francis, 68, (Sherriann), William Ernest, 67 (Karen) and Anthony Rudolph, 66. A devoted grandmother to her three grandchildren: Amanda, Ashley and Tyler (Dave and Sherriann) who lovingly called her Nona. Until her passing she maintained extremely close relationships with all her children and grandchildren.
Mary Ann studied piano throughout her childhood, leading to a continuing love of classical music. In Wauwatosa, she continued substitute teaching for several years. Most of all, Mary Ann loved to both cook and bake, constantly creating her own delicious recipes and baking her oft requested famous pies as well as other desserts. To the enjoyment of family, friends and neighbors, Mary Ann devoted herself to creating, planting and tending the many flower gardens surrounding her home. Roses were her particular favorite.
She truly was beloved by everyone. Those who were fortunate enough to meet and know Mary Ann cherished her remarkably sweet disposition, her genuine kindness, her gentle soul, and her loving and giving spirit. Mary Ann never had a bad word to say about anyone. Devoted to everyone, particularly her extended family, Mary Ann maintained extremely close relationships with her older sister, Barbara (pre-deceased) and her younger brother William and his wife, Lynda who still reside in Wausau, WI. Mary Ann was a devoted Catholic and long-standing member of St. Joseph’s Church in Wauwatosa where, in her earlier years, she volunteered as a member of the Junior Women’s Board Association of Wauwatosa.
Mary Ann will be sorely missed by her family and by the many lives she touched with her unconditional love, exceptional ability to listen and give, and her unquestionable goodness. Mary Ann, be at peace with your husband, Frank. You truly deserve it.
We miss you terribly and will love you always. Your amazing spirit will always be with us.
