-

Elizabeth Mary Hinners (Lisa), 61, entered into eternal rest on August 15, 2023, with her family lovingly by her side. Elizabeth is survived by her beloved son, Christian Sacia Garcia. She was a dear mother, sister, daughter, niece, and friend.

Born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Lisa is survived by her parents, Thomas and Mary Hinners, brother Brian Hinners (Jessica), sister Jennifer Veenhuis (Jeffry), sister Taylor Hinners, and brother Brandon Turner. Nephews and nieces include Alexander, Brittney, and August Hinners, Skye and Jack Roventini, Caleb Hinners, Axl Turner, and Emily and Jacob Veenhuis. Numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins survive her.

Family and friends were of great importance in Lisa’s life. Reunions were much-anticipated events and provided treasured moments of spending time in nature at Glacier National Park and Black Butte with loved ones. She often spoke reverently of her childhood with her grandparents, George and Betty Wegmann, and cherished her close relationship with her mother. Lisa’s friends fondly remember her infectious laughter and genuine care for them.

She studied at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and earned a Bachelor ofArtsdegreefromSt.Olaf’sCollegeinMinnesota. Shehadanesteemed 20-plus-year career in marketing and public relations. Lisa worked on a daytime television program, at an advertising agency, and most recently served as the Director of Marketing for an affordable housing development and management firm.

Lisa was a dedicated advocate for causes protecting our environment, children, and women’s rights. She would engage in conversations with gusto and kindness, and her intent to improve the world was evident. Lisa was passionate about languages and sought knowledge of different cultures near and far. Her two years spent living in Italy was one of her greatest treasures. She lit up with joy at any opportunity to speak Spanish or Italian. Lisa was able to share her adoration of Italy this past summer with Christian and build memories to last a lifetime.

Motherhood was Lisa’s crowning achievement. Her darling “Cri Cri” fulfilled her lifelong dream of becoming a parent. The valued lessons and energy she imparted to Christian in their short time together will be a great source of comfort, guidance, and wisdom as he embarks on the next chapter of his life.

Our family would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the staff of Froedtert Hospital for the support and reassurance extended to Lisa during her medical journey. You are forever in our hearts.

“If you focus on loss, you will feel grief. If you focus on fear, you will feel afraid. If you focus on those who hurt you, you will feel angry. If you focus on gratitude, you will feel grateful. If you focus on those who love you, you will feel loved.” Lisa was loved beyond measure by her family and friends and will be missed infinitely.
