Lost Artists Dinner Series to feature menus inspired by Johnny Cash and others
When considering the classic icebreaker question about which famous person throughout history you'd like to have dinner with, chances are Johnny Cash, Freddie Mercury, David Bowie and Prince would appear on the list for many. And though you can't actually dine with these legendary musicians, the Pabst Theater Group is offering the next best thing.
The theater group's Lost Artists Dinner Series gives guests a chance to hear untold stories and see behind-thescenes photos and videos about the musicians while dining on multi-course menus inspired by these four members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
The series is sponsored by the Pabst Theater Group and dinners will take place at the newly renovated Fitzgerald Mansion, 1119 N. Marshall St.
The series will be hosted by Kyle Johnson Cherek, culinary historian, food essayist and former host of “Wisconsin Foodie” on PBS.
The first dinner of the series takes place Oct. 13, featuring a five-course menu of recipes from Johnny Cash's private chef. Wine and beer pairings are also available, and specialty cocktails will be served.
The dishes served during the southern-themed Johnny Cash dinner will be:
● Course 1: Savory Sweet Potato Pancakes with Grits and Cooked Greens
● Course 2: BBQ with Green Tomato Chow Chow and Pinto Beans
● Course 3: Fried Chicken with Texas Salad and Fried Pickles
● Course 4: John's Homemade Chili with June's Cornbread and Betty's Cole Slaw
● Course 5: June's Blackberry Jam Cake
● Take-Home Dish: Maybelle's Peanut Brittle
Tickets for the Johnny Cash dinner start at $120 and are on sale now at Doors open at 6 p.m. with dinner, stories and music from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Menus and on-sale dates for the remaining dinners will be announced leading up to the event dates. The full Lost Artists Dinner Series dates are:
