MILWAUKEE/STURGEON BAY - With broken hearts we announce the death of David Woelfel on September 9th, at the age of 74.

Beloved husband and best friend of 52 years to Joy. Loving father of Anne (Jeff) & Alley. Brother of Dan (Arlene), Mary (Bruce), and Jo-Jo (Dan). Uncle to Don (Mindy) Festge & Dean Festge. And further survived by many dear cousins and friends.

Dave grew up spending his summers at his grandparent’s cottage in Door County. He attended Francis Jordan High School and later graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a BFA & Masters Degree in Visual Communications. Dave was mentored by Leon Travanti, who became a lifelong friend.

Dave founded Lone Wolf Graphics in 1993, an advertising agency that garnered both national & international clients, many of whom became close friends. Prior to owning his own agency, he was a Creative Director at MGI & HYC.

Dave was incredibly passionate about “his girls,” his buddies, music & the Bucks. He was nostalgic, forthright, funny and always thought of others before himself. He will be missed every single day for the rest of our lives, but his laughter, his smile & his kindness will never be forgotten. His goodwill will live on in all who were lucky enough to know him.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Hedwig Catholic Church, 1702 N Humboldt Avenue, Milwaukee at 11am on Thursday, September 28th. Visitation will be from 9:30-11am at the Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Dave’s name can be made to The Sturgeon Bay Historical Society Granary Fund: https://sturgeonbayhistoricalsociety.org/ granary
