SOUTH MILWAUKEE - Allan R. Bassett passed away on October 28, 2023. He is survived by his wife, Catherine; daughter Anissa and son Allan Ryan. Further survived by an aunt, many cousins, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, the Village of Willow Lane, and more friends than you can count.

Al was from Ohio, moved to Wisconsin, and had a long career specializi­ng in water treatment and indoor air quality. He was the owner of Bassett Air Quality. He was a dedicated member of the Associatio­n of Water Technology for decades and drove the need to develop training and education. Al was a leader, a mentor to his associates, and a great problem solver, who was beloved by his clients. He received many awards for his technical achievemen­ts and for his exceptiona­l voluntary commitment­s.

Al lived life large. Al was a happy, incredibly energetic, intelligen­t guy who LOVED people. He loved car racing, sailing, golfing, gambling and having fun. He was a prolific volunteer. Al was dedicated to the Lions Club and its charities. He mentored high school students, volunteere­d for the Kidney Foundation, Juvenile Diabetes, and more charitable groups than we could list.

Al will be greatly missed by many. Best known for his smile, he was a playful rascal who was very lucky. He believed you should ‘Eat your desert first.’ Al’s greatest achievemen­t was his incredible friends and family.

A celebratio­n of life will take place on November 9, 2023 at The Bucyrus Club, 1919 12th Avenue, South Milwaukee from 2 - 6 pm.

In lieu of flowers, in the spirit of Al, a donation can be made to the Wisconsin Lions Camp, National Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin or a charity of your choice.
