Doug’s passions in life were work, the water, and above all, family. Shortly after graduating from Cedarburg High School in 1963 Doug moved to Oconomowoc. He began working as a painter before joining his father’s business Glenn Rieder Inc. Over 54 years he held multiple positions, and eventually purchased the company from his father, taking on the role of President and CEO. His biggest professional accomplishment was growing the company and expanding it to new markets. Under his leadership, Glenn Reider went from a mostly Milwaukee-based slate of customers to national contracts in the hospitality industry. He cared deeply about his employees and the value they brought to the business.

He spent 40 years living on Okauchee Lake, where he raised his daughter, Maria, entertained friends and family, and loved boating and blasting music. In 2009, he met Robin, and together they enjoyed traveling, gardening and renovating their home in Cedarburg. Doug always loved dogs and spoiled each and every one of them. He’ll forever be remembered for his work ethic, sense of humor, kind-heartedness, and calming influence.
