Sheila B. Vollman

-

FOX POINT - (née Burke) With loving family from across the country gathered at her side for one final toast, Sheila was sent off to heaven to join the legions of angels and countless loved ones eagerly awaiting her in heaven, especially her husband Ronald Vollman, son Eric Vollman, and daughter Gretchen Vollman.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law John and Valerie Vollman of New Orleans, LA, and her daughter and son-in-law Kristin and John Lauman of Bozeman, MT, and her three adored granddaughters, Izzy Lauman, Ava Lauman, and Keira Vollman. Sheila “ShuShu” was the eldest of seven, a faithful and fun-loving sister/sister-in-law to Kevin and the late Mary Grace Burke, Gerry and Mary Burke, Meg and Hack Noyes, and the late John Jr. (Murph), Reilly (Jocie), and Timothy Burke. She will be remembered by her many dear nieces and nephews, cousins, great-nieces and -nephews, extended family, and friends.

Raised in Fox Point, ShuShu had a zest for life and a willing spirit for adventure that took her from Saint Mary’s College off to California where she met the love of her life, Ron. Raising her four children and exploring careers and passions that included teaching, real estate, cooking, gardening, and stints at the Milwaukee Art Museum and the New Orleans World War II Museum, her life was an eclectic collection of experiences that ranged from the hallowed to the hilarious. Never living blandly, she made homes in California, Texas, Indiana, Louisiana, and Wisconsin, imparting knowledge, laughter, and hosting countless parties with a kitchen prowess that could make Julia Child nod in approval, and a penchant for plenty of red wine or a well-blended gin and tonic. ShuShu was indeed the ‘spirit’ behind every gathering. When not transforming parties and moments, ShuShu cultivated the land and her soul with equal devotion - a devout Catholic with a garden as lovingly tended as her faith. Her legacy includes an anthology of great sayings, toasts that are best not repeated in polite company, and limericks that could make a sailor blush.

The family will greet friends on Monday, February 26, at 1:00 PM at Old St. Mary Catholic Church, 844 N. Broadway, Milwaukee followed by the celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial at 2:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to the Alzheimer’s Foundation or the Eisenhower Center, or raise a glass with her favorite toast, “Here’s to it, and to it again...”
