Nunzio Joseph Maniaci

MADISON - Born in Rockford Illinois to August and Mary Maniaci, Nunzio was the first, (PRIMO) grandson to both the Maniaci and Gutilla families and as such carried the history and traditions of strong souled, hard working Sicilian immigrants with him, sharing the stories and memories of a rich and colorful life that spanned almost 90 years. Settling in Milwaukee in the mid ‘40’s where he lived until he relocated to Arizona in the ‘90’s, Nunzio was loved and respected by family, friends, and acquaintances alike, always ready to share a story, tell a joke or lend an ear. Nuni’s varied and unique occupations and interests included farmer, Haberdasher, underwater logger, bartender, dock worker, realtor and restauranteur. An avid outdoorsman, Nuni enjoyed hunting, fishing and hiking, along with a passion for history, the NY Times crossword puzzles, reading and travel. Nunzio was a colorful, articulate, character with a sharp wit and humorous outlook. Generous in thought, word and deed, he lived with integrity, pride and purpose.

A recent cancer diagnosis left him in the loving care of his family and the amazing staff and residents of the Renaissance senior living center and the nurses and caregiver’s from Agrace Hospice, Madison, WI.
