-

BROOKFIELD - Elinor Jane Jones entered eternal life on March 1, 2024, just three months short of her 100th birthday at Angels Grace Hospice in Oconomowoc. She was born on May 30, 1924, in Rockford, Illinois and was the only child of Warren and Mildred Brown. Elinor was the beloved wife of LaVern Jones, who proceeded her in death in 2003, and the loving mother of Donna Zinda and Kathy Jardim. She was also a devoted grandmother to Traci (Adam) Lukic, Kristi (Jeremy) Willey, Laura (Will) Reynolds, Joe (Traci) Ort, Carolyn (Andy) Tevels, and Rachel (David) Hartwell. She was the adoring great grandmother of 13 great-grandchildren. Elinor had a zest for life. She enjoyed golfing, reading, traveling, and spending time with her family. She had a passion for bridge and continued to play well into her 90’s. She and her husband loved to dance and belonged to a dance club for many years. Due to the fact that her father was the English Riding Master for the stables at the Moor Mud Baths, she was an accomplished equestrian. She was blessed with a quick wit, amazing sense of humor, infectious personality, and the ability to make everyone feel special. She was our family’s biggest cheerleader and our rock. Her daughters and grandchildren describe her as inspirational, determined, positive, smart, encouraging, compassionate, strong-willed and someone who could always lift you up if you were having a bad day. She had a strong faith and a heart of gold. She loved connecting with people and nurturing her friendships; therefore, people were naturally drawn to her. For the past ten years, she was happy to call the Congregational Home her home where she enjoyed participating in the activities and made many new friends. Elinor found her career niche in 1977 when she became a sales associate for Wauwatosa Realty (now Shorewest). She was a member of the Million Dollar Club 24 times, the President’s Club 13 times, and a Charter Member of the National Sales Award. In 1987 she was appointed Associate Vice President. She retired at 77 to lovingly care for her husband who had Alzheimer’s. Donations in memory of Elinor may be made to the Chapel Ministry at Congregational Home in Brookfield, Waukesha Service Club or the charity of your choice. In keeping with Elinor’s wishes no services will be held.
