Things to do St. Patrick’s Day weekend in Milwaukee

St. Patrick’s Day celebratio­ns (and free rides)

Many, many Milwaukee bars will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day all weekend. Among them, Mo’s Irish Pub, 142 W. Wisconsin Ave.; Trinity 3 Irish Pubs, 125 E. Juneau Ave.; and County Clare Irish Inn & Pub, 1234 N, Astor St. will be open at noon March 16 and 8 a.m. March 17, with live music and more. And if you go out Saturday night, remember Molson Coors’ Miller Lite Free Rides provides free fares on Milwaukee County Transit System buses from 6 p.m. till end of service March 16.

Alternativ­e St. Patrick’s Day Hike

For a different kind of green on St. Patrick’s Day, take a nature hike at noon March 17 in Lakeshore State Park. You’ll learn about the history of the park, 500 N. Harbor Drive, and see its resident waterfowl. The hike starts at the north entrance, just west of Discovery World. Admission is free. Info: dnr.wisconsin.gov/events/88346.

Bike Bazaar at Riverside University High School

The Bike Bazaar — a marketplac­e for new and used bikes, parts, accessorie­s and more — pedals into Riverside University High School Community Center, 1615 E. Locust St., from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 16. Admission is $5, is $3 for youths 13 and up, and free for kids 12 and younger. Proceeds support the Milwaukee Recreation Mountain Bike team. Rummage-O-Rama

Rummage-O-Rama returns March 16-17 to the Waukesha Expo Center, 1000 Northview Road, Waukesha. The long-running flea market is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 16 and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 17. Admission is $5, $3 for seniors and members of the military, and free for kids younger than 12. Info: wirummageo­rama.com.

Battle of the Bites

Six Midwestern chefs take part in a culinary competitio­n and beer pairing for charity in the first Battle of the Bites from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. March 15 at Pilot Project Brewing, 1128 N. Ninth St. Guests sample and vote on the dishes; proceeds go to the winning chef’s selected charity. Tickets are $79.99. Info: pilotproje­ctbrewing.com.
