ICONIC VIEWS OF DOOR COUNTY

Nine vistas of breathtaking beauty and fodder for the ’Gram

-

EAGLE BLUFF TOWER

Recently reopened to be fully accessible via a long ramp through the forest canopy, this 60-foot-high observation deck on a bluff puts you 253 feet above Green Bay for views all the way to Michigan's U.P.

THE CURVY HIGHWAY

The stuff of postcards and mind-bending Insta posts, the last stretch of Highway 42 east of Gills Rock as it approaches Northport and the Washington Island ferry is a must.

SCHOOLHOUSE BEACH

Along a bay on the north shore of Washington Island, this partly sheltered swimming beach is a curving stretch of palm-sized white limestone cobblestones, worn smooth by the waves and shining bright in the sun.

LAVENDER FIELDS

The peak of lavender season at Fragrant Isle Lavender Farm & Shop during July and August is a fragrant, colorful excuse to cross to Washington Island.

CANA ISLAND LIGHTHOUSE

One of 11 light stations in DC, our cover model has its own little island that you can walk (or wade) to for dramatic views from the top, but it's just as stunning from along the Lake Michigan shore.

DOOR BLUFF HEADLANDS

Staring down at kayaks below or looking out across the lake from the cliffside trail, enjoy this bayside county park and its rocky roost for white cedars.

SUNRISE, SUNSET

Early birds, head to Baileys Harbor or Rowleys Bay. Sundowners are great at Fish Creek's Sunset Beach Park or Sister Bay Marina.

CAVE POINT

Bordering Whitefish Dunes, this county park puts you right above incoming Lake Michigan waves thumping into its caves. Sunrises or even sunset-painted clouds add to the intensity of this view.

OLD BALDY

Atop the tallest dune in Whitefish Dunes State Park, this 93-foot observation tower overlooks Lake Michigan and its dunes as well as Clark Lake to the west.
