ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Longtime Model Airplane News contributor David Gierke is an acknowledged internal combustion engine authority, having written three wellreceived non-fiction books and numerous magazine articles on the subject. A retired high school teacher and dedicated pioneer aviation historian, Gierke has received extensive recognition for his work, including the 1978 New York State Teacher of the Year award and a citation from the Buffalo, New York chapter of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Dave was inducted into the national Model Aviation Hall of Fame in 2003.
