MEDICAL DELIVERY

The mission of San Francisco-based Zipline is to “provide every human on Earth with instant access to vital medical supplies.” To accomplish this goal, the company has created a drone delivery service where drones in Africa distribute lifesaving medical supplies to remote clinics in Ghana and Rwanda. Zipline drones have flown 5 million commercial delivery miles, delivering 500,000 vaccines, units of blood, PPE and critical and lifesaving medicines. Doctors and clinics use an app to order needed supplies, which the drones deliver in 15 to 20 minutes. The electric-powered, all-weather aircraft are able to bypass the problems of dangerous routes, traffic, and vehicle breakdowns, speeding up delivery and minimizing waste.
