THROTTLE BELLCRANK

-

With many gasoline-powered engines, the position of the carburetor requires either a thin flexible cable pushrod to move the throttle arm or the installation of a carburetor adaptor block to reposition the arm so a straight-run pushrod can be used. A much simpler method that produces less play than the cable is to use a 90-degree belcrank. I drill a hole in the aluminum cup mount and thread the pivot bolt into place, securing it with a lock nut on the inside. Then I make a short-threaded pushrod with ball-link clevises on either end to attach to the throttle arm. Now you can use a straight-run linkage back to the throttle servo. George Lewis,
