Physician, pharmacy resident killed in Chicago hospital shooting
Mercy Hospital in Chicago lost two staffers in a shooting that left four dead, including a police officer and the gunman.
Emergency room physician Dr. Tamera O’Neal and pharmacy resident Dayna Less were killed. Police say O’Neal, 38, was confronted in the hospital parking lot by the gunman, with whom she had been in a domestic relationship. Witnesses said the man shot her multiple times, and after she fell to the ground the gunman stood over her and shot her again.
According to Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson, Less, 25, was shot as she stepped out of an elevator.
Also killed was Samuel Jimenez, a 28-year-old Chicago police officer with three children.
