CityMD reaches agreement with UnitedHealthcare

-

New York-based CityMD, a fast-growing urgent-care chain, has reached a contract to remain in the network of UnitedHealthcare, the country’s largest health insurer, just before the companies’ agreement was set to expire at the end of last year.

If a deal had not been reached, members of UnitedHealthcare and its subsidiary Oxford Health Plans would have faced higher charges when seeking care at one of CityMD’s locations.

A letter dated Nov. 26 warned members that they might need to seek other providers. CityMD has more than 120 locations in New York, New Jersey and Washington, D.C. In Manhattan, the urgent-care chain dots the map like subway stops, with 22 clinics. Private-equity firm Warburg Pincus acquired a majority stake in CityMD for an undisclosed price in 2017.
