One issue that has been underdeveloped is social violence and how that relates to health equity. We need to be thinking about gun violence and domestic violence as a health issue and we have to bring the same tools to bear to address it as we would any health challenge.

I get concerned that the whole violence discussion will get swept under the rug.

We really do need to put together a better strategy for addressing safety and quality improvement in the ambulatory environment. I think that is an area where the federal government and other organizations need to take some bigger steps, to get it to be a bigger part of their oversight as well as embedded more deeply in alternative payment models.
