My bold prediction is the state and federal governments are going to start being more forward-thinking and a little bit less segmented in the way we think about funds going to people in need.

There’s been housing assistance, which is an entirely separate agency from food stamps, which is a separate agency from Medicaid. What I’m starting to see— and I’m very, very encouraged by— is people in Washington and in statehouses around the country are recognizing that there’s a strong correlation here and if these programs can work together more effectively, we can have a much more positive and I’ll even say sustainable outcome to improving the quality of life for those who are underserved and economically challenged.
