I don’t foresee anything radical happening, but I do see the continued movement toward more sophisticated management of the total cost of care through risk-sharing, bundled payments and value-based payments. Underneath that is continued further integration of clinical and financial people within and across organizations.
I think you’re going to see a bigger push toward consumerism and specifically price transparency. The CMS is really going to focus on moving toward understandable, consumer-level price transparency.
There’s a lot of frustration, a lot of emotion. There’s a tremendous amount of venture capital money flowing in. That adds up to an environment that’s ripe for some big bombshell of a deal. You really can’t predict what that’s going to be.
