Successful stints as director of planning and later executive vice president and COO propelled Freese Decker to the role of CEO of the Grand Rapids, Mich., system in September 2018. During her tenure as COO, Freese Decker oversaw a $ 300 million care redesign and EHR implementation. The system also cut per admission expenses by 70%. She has expanded roles for women in leadership, including adding five women to C-suite positions.
