Monterey lights needed

Monterey High School field improvements are a necessity for our youth. Being involved in youth sports for over 30 years has made me aware of specific needs for youth. The battle that has been taking place with the homeowners association resisting field improvements and lights is selfish and still continues today with the lower field at Monterey High. The major improvements that the lower field will need is lighting for soccer games and practice. We need community support for this improvement. Night games are necessary as fields are limited. It is not a good practice when a small group of individuals can restrict the greater community through the threat of lawsuits and hold back safety improvements like lighting of sports fields. Monterey High School existed prior to the homeowners association residents who moved into the area. Our young adults need these field improvements which include lighting for safety. We need to support MPUSD for the field improvements that they are willing to make. Some of the greatest memories our youth take away when they graduate is their sports.
