David Royce Orser
August 16, 1944 ~ February 28, 2023
Salinas
David Royce Orser passed on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, with his wife of 46 years by his side.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Beth Orser and his sister, Deborah Orser. He was born at the Monterey Hospital on August 16, 1944, and was a resident of Pacific Grove and Salinas his entire life.
He attended Pacific Grove High School, where he played basketball and baseball. He was especially fond of informal Saturday baseball games with friends at Pacific Grove Ball Park and El Estero Baseball Field in Monterey.
Dave joined the Air Force, where he maintained jets and served in Thailand during the Vietnam War. He received his certification as an aviation mechanic from Gavilan College. He worked at the Salinas Airport for Gold Coast Aviation and later for Wilbur Ellis at the King City Airport. He thoroughly enjoyed his co-workers and others he met through his job.
A man of honesty and his integrity, with a quick wit and wonderful sense of humor, Dave was a delight to all who knew him.
Dave prioritized family and friends. At family gatherings, the nieces and nephews especially loved being around him. His generosity, care for others, and sense of humor kept family close. He was also a loyal friend and always showed up when there was a fence to be built or a move to be made.
Dave was not a joiner, so I cannot list organizations that he participated in, but his contribution to all of us was that we always felt better after being around him. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
Memorial Mass will be held 1:30p.m .Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at Sacred Heart Church, 22 Stone St. Salinas, Ca. 93901.
