Salinas

Jerry left us at 1:00 in the afternoon, knowing how much he was loved, after a period of declining health, the last few months of which were extremely difficult.

He was born in the Southwest and, by the age of 12, had arrived in Salinas, where he grew to adulthood. He attended both Salinas High School and Pacific Grove High school in the Class of 1953. He was an electrician by trade and became a contractor in that field. He worked hard at the craft he loved until he retired and sold his business in 2019. His plans for an active retirement were derailed by the onset of poor health. He suffered a series of strokes, cardiac problems, dementia and ataxia, which finally caused his death.

Jerry was a man of grace who endured the losses of his three children and the decline of his health with dignity and courage. We should all have his strength. My husband was my hero, protector and true love - I will be forever grateful that he came into my life. His spirit is now free as it should be while mine is bound by sorrow. He will be sadly missed by many. He was truly a good man. I loved him dearly.

Survivors are his wife, Sharon Witcher; grandchildren Julie (Jason) DuPriest of Brooks, GA; Eric (Melissa) Witcher of Somerset, CA; Emily (John) Aleschus of Orangevale, CA; Jacob (Alexandria) Witcher of Mt. Holly, NC and Jessica (Tristan) Botha of New South Wales, Australia as well as thirteen great-grandchildren. Stepsons, Michael Roland, Daren Wenger, and honorary son, Jarod Witcher.

He was predeceased by his children: Allen Witcher, Terry Witcher, and Sue Allen

A private Service will be held.
