Due to COVID-19, Halloween events in Clare will be a little different this year than in years past.

According to a press release from Clare Parks and Recreation, the normally scheduled Halloween Spook-tacular and Clare Fire Department hotdog handout will not be running, due to the current restrictions. However, the Pumpkin Run and a Tractor-treat at the Emerald Isle Recreation Complex will still be running on Oct. 31.

The Pumpkin Run is a racing event that also features a costume contest where participants can compete while wearing a costume and win Clare Cash that can be used at participating businesses. Prizes will be awarded for the top five costumes.

Race Day registration and packet pick- up will be at the Emerald Isle Recreation Complex (303 Pinecrest Street, Clare) from9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m.

The 5K Run starts at 10:00 am and the 5K Walk will start one minute after the run. Both are out and back starting and ending at the Emerald Isle Recreation Complex and traveling along markley and then onto Dunlop and back.

Entry for the Run/ Walk is $20 before October 18th and $25 for late registrations. All finishers will receive a participant ribbon and 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place runners in the 12 and under and 13 and over category, will receive a trophy.

The Tract- or-treat event will feature new and antique tractors of all shapes, sizes, and colors which visitors will be able to view and will even get some goodies to take home.

The event will take place from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. and will have one-way foot traffic through a loop at the complex to allow for physical distancing and a staggered flow of foot traffic. Clare Family Fitness will also be holding their Halloween fun obstacle course during the event.

Various Halloween festivities will be taking place on Halloween and Clare Parks and Recreation will share them on the Clare Parks and Recreation Facebook page, as they become available. If any families, sports teams, church groups, businesses, civic clubs, and other organizations would like to volunteer with our event, please contact Clare Parks and Recreation. Call 386-7541 extension213 or email jsimmer@cityofclare.org.

In the event of inclement weather and/or a change with the event, it will be posted on the Clare Parks and Recreation Facebook page.
