Isabella County has slipped into the next-highest category for risk on a county-level COVID-19 dashboard, as cases in the state of Michigan are starting to show a determined but slow upward march.

The county’s seven-day rolling average for new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 is 10.6 per 100,000 people, based on Sunday’s data at the dashboard hosted by the Brown University School of Public Health.

That’s enough to push it into the second-highest category for risk, called Accelerated Spread and coded orange on an accom

panying map. The dashboard recommends rigorous test-and-trace programs and stay-and-home orders as a precaution.

Six new confirmed cases were reported in Isabella County on Tuesday, bringing its cumulative total to 3,653, with 72 deaths.

The county is also showing an upward trend in its seven-day rolling average of positive diagnostic test rate. For much of the last month, the county’s sevenday average has bounced between just above 2 percent to just under 3 percent.

Using data going back seven days starting Monday, the county’s average rate of positive diagnostic test results was 3.51 percent.

Those remain below state averages of 19.8 new confirmed and probable cases per 100,000 and a 6.11 percent test positivity rate.

The data on Gratiot and Clare counties shows no pronounced direction in either way.

In Gratiot County, where two new confirmed cases were announced Tuesday for a cumulative total of 2,481, the sevenday rolling average for new confirmed and probable cases per 100,000 people was 7.4. The county’s rolling seven-day average for test positivity was 1.26.

Clare County’s rolling seven-day average for new confirmed and probable cases was 4.6 with a 4.6 seven-day average for positive diagnostic test results. Three new cases were reported in Clare County on Tuesday, for a cumulative total of 1,421.

One hundred people have died from COVID-19 in Gratiot County; in Clare County, that number is 68.

Elsewhere in mid-michigan, no new deaths were reported, with new and cumulative cases and deaths as follows:

• In Gladwin County, three new cases were reported for a cumulative total of 1,277, with 40 deaths;

• In Mecosta County, one additional case was reported for a cumulative total of 1,970, with 21 deaths;
