RADZIBON, ALEXANDER “AL”

Alexander (Al) Radzibon died on October 18, 2021, at Flint Hurley Trauma Center, following injuries sustained in a fall. He was born July 20, 1929, to Nick Radzibon and Anna (Skikun) Radzibon in Detroit, Michigan. His wife, Margaret E. Radzibon predecease­d him in 2009. Surviving him are a son, Kenneth (Kathy) Radzibon, a daughter, Kathleen Radionoff, grandchild­ren Lisa Coolman, Rebecca Markowski, Karl Ruschman, Michael Ruschman and Douglas Hoppe. He leaves behind great-grandchild­ren Hope, Keri, Grayson, Hudson and Margot. Al also leaves behind a very special friend, Doris Lapaugh. Al was a graduate of Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineerin­g. After graduation he served in the US Air Force, from 1951 to 1952. After serving his country Al was employed by the Wayne County Road Commission until 1979 as a civil engineer. He supervised bridge constructi­on on many of the freeways in Detroit. After his retirement from the Wayne County Road Commission he embarked on a second career as the public works director for the City of Alma. He was a life member of the American Society of Civil Engineers. Al was a devout family man who was always there for his family. He attended and was active in the Episcopal Church, lastly at St. John’s Episcopal in Alma, Michigan. He enjoyed working on projects at home and at the family camp in northern Michigan. In ing. Al will be greatly missed by his family and the many friends he made during his life. A celebratio­n of life and a military service at Mt. Holly National Cemetery will be held at a later date. The family requests that any memorials in his name be made to St. John’s Episcopal Church, 495 Charles Ave., Alma, Michigan 48801.
