Gift card value doubled in Wednesday promotion

Everyone likes to find a bargain, especially during the holiday season and the Gratiot Area Chamber of Commerce is offering a deal that’s hard to beat.

In conjunction with Consumers Energy and it’s “Our Town” gift card promotion the chamber will provide a dollar-for-dollar match when anyone purchases a Chamber Bucks Gift Certificate from 5 to 7 p.m Wednesday at the chamber office, located at 110 W. Superior St. in Alma.

So an individual or organization that buys a $50 certificate will actually be getting $100 in purchase power, according to chamber Executive Director Brandon Kelley.

“Everyone knows COVID-19 has hit restaurants and small local retailers hard,” he said in a press release.

“That’s why having the support of corporate partners like Consumers Energy and their Our Town gift card effort is so important. By giving chambers money to offer a dollar-for-dollar match they are helping them give member restaurants and retailers that we all enjoy a chance to make it through the pandemic.”

The chamber has received $12,000 from Consumers for the holiday promotion and will run out once that mark is hit.

Only cash or checks will be accepted and purchases are limited to one $50 card per customer.

Certificates cannot be reserved and will only be available during the specified time.

The gift cards can be used at the more than 150 participating chamber members.

A list of participants will be provided to those who purchase a card.

Consumers Energy is making the Our Town gift card promotion in 63 communities it serves in Michigan.
